Our Mission

HRAFN smartness

At dawn, Norse god Odin sent out his ravens to gather information and return in the evening.

They perch on the god's shoulders and whisper

the news of the wide world into his ears.

With such information Odin ruled the world

wisely.

Hugin and Munin traveled the world collecting news and information for Odin. Hugin is "thought" and Munin is "memory". And with Odin's wisdom derived from trading his eye with Mime, he ruled all men and every god.

Odin's wisdom.

Odin was the Norse god of wisdom and power. He was always looking to expand his knowledge. For his thirst for wisdom he sacrificed one eye in return for a drink of the well-of-knowledge. To better understand the world he had created.

Odin believed in the power of learning-by-doing. It is said, that to learn about pain, he stabbed himself with a spear. Still, he was anxious about everything that he did not know and did not understand. To learn about the world's trivialities and mysteries, he trained his two ravens to gather information.

Hugin's thought.

Hugin’s speciality is “thought”. He interprets what it sees, and reports to Odin in a biased way what he has learned from observing the world.

Munin's memory.

Munin is memory. He recalls everything with photographic precision. Munin reports an unbiased view of exactly what is going on in the world.

Hugin and Munin fly each day
over the spacious earth.
I fear for Hugin, that he come not back,
yet more anxious am I for Munin.
